On 22 September 2008 the Embassy of Bulgaria in Delhi organised a concert of the renowned Bulgarian folklore singer Mrs. Lyubimka Biserova at Teen Murti Auditorium to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Independence of Bulgaria. The concert was held with the joint efforts of the Embassy and the East-West Indological Foundation.
Mrs. Lyubimka Biserova presented traditional folklore songs from the different folklore regions of Bulgaria. Along with the concert an Exhibition entitled “Traditions” was displayed in the hallway of Teen Murti Auditorium. It featured the most interesting authentic Bulgarian rituals, practised by the diverse ethnic and religious groups in Bulgaria.
Chief Guest of the event was H.E. Mr. Silvius Condpan, MP, Rajya Sabha and member of the India-Bulgaria Parliamentary Friendship Group.
A vote of thanks was given by the President of the Indo-Bulgarian Friendship Association Mr. S.S. Chaman.
As part of the celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Independence of Bulgaria, on 26 September 2008 the Embassy organised a concert of Mrs. Lyubimka Biserova in Kolkata at the Crystal Ball Room of the Taj Bengal Hotel. The concert was realised with the assistance of the Honorary Consul of Bulgaria to Kolkata Mr. Vishambhar Saran.
22 September 1908 Bulgaria is a significant date that marks the beginning of the modern history of Bulgaria. The achievement of independence was a long process which became possible due to the whole Bulgarian people, the political elite and the intelligencia of the time. It restored Bulgaria to its rightful place in the European family and paved the way to its future development as a sovereign state. |
