ENERGY SUMMIT
"NATURAL GAS FOR EUROPE.
SECURITY AND PARTNERSHIP"
Sofia, 24 - 25 April 2009
Energy Summit entitled "Natural Gas for Europe. Security and Partnership" will be held in Sofia on 24-25 April 2009 on the initiative of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria H.E. Mr. Georgi Parvanov.
The goal of the Energy Summit is to engage EU’s major energy partners - key producers, transit countries, and consumers, in a dialogue on the EU energy security approach, as well as to raise EU Member States awareness of the political will of producers and transit countries to realize their interests in line with the proposed new EU Energy Security and Solidarity Action Plan.
Invitations to the Energy Summit were extended to 28 countries from South East Europe, the Black Sea region and the Caspian region, Central Asia, European Union Member States directly involved in the development of the Southern Gas Corridor, the USA, Russia, the EU Presidency, and the European Commission.
The business part of the Summit is planned to discuss trends, principles, and policies to enhance Europe’s energy security, and some natural gas projects that are key to the region of South Europe.
MEDIA ACCREDITATION
The Summit will be held at the National Palace of Culture in Sofia.
Media accreditation is available only online on the Summit’s website: www.energysummit2009.bg
The deadline for accreditation is April 6th, 2009.
The journalists will receive confirmation via e-mail.
Foreign journalists should check with the nearest Bulgarian diplomatic mission about the effective visa requirements. When submitting documents for a visa, members of the media are requested to specify that they will be covering the Energy Summit.
The Press Centre will be accommodated at the National Palace of Culture. The working area for the media will be equipped with workstations for portable computers, wireless Internet access and printers.
