  Technology options

Genotype:
Two sunflower genotypes (hybrids) (Helianthus annuus L.) are proposed for introduction:
  • (1) Standard (linoleic) oil type; vegetation period: total temperature sum required from sowing to maturation - about 2800o C; uniform crop 160-180 cm high; complete resistance to Plasmopara helianthi and Orobanche cumana; seeds: dark gray to black color, suitable for oil production; yield potential under production conditions: 3 000 - 3 200 kg/ha.

  • (2) Oleic type of oil; vegetation period: total temperature sum required from sowing to maturation - about 3000o C; uniform crop 150-170 cm high; complete resistance to Plasmopara helianthi, susceptible to Orobanche cumana; seeds: dark gray to black color, suitable for oil production; yield potential under production conditions: 2 800 - 3 000 kg/ha.

    Production characteristics of technology
  • Use of mechanization: in 100 % of the elements;
  • Use of conventional machines - in 100 % of the element;
  • Use of pesticides: 80-100 %;
  • Use of mineral fertilization: moderate, depending on the agrochemical parameters of soil.

Stages of introduction

  1. The Originator institution has to receive information about the agroecological conditions (including soil types, climate, specificity of terrain) and the production conditions (including agriculture system, technical equipment, etc.) in the respective region of India so that the team of authors can evaluate the possibilities for adaptation of the technology.
  2. Signing of an agreement for introduction of the varieties.
  3. Conducting a demonstration field trial.
